The following dogs are a few of our 'beneficiaries'

“Remy” a 10 month old, white pit bull terrier who was hit by a car while being walked on a leash. Two veterinarian refused to care for her because her owners didn’t have money and sent her out the door with a dangling leg. Five days later, they called Pet Assistance, Inc. We paid for Remy’s leg pinning and did her post op care.

“Einstein.” At eight months old, he already needed two surgeries to remove foreign objects. Although Einstein loves kids, he needs a home with active, organized, adults so he won’t be tempted to once again eat socks and gloves.

“Nina” had a broken leg for nine days before her owners were told to call Pet Assistance, Inc. Nina broke her leg playing with the family cat! She was chasing it; jumped from the couch to a chair and missed. .Like Remy, Nina was turned away by two veterinarians because her owners only had $75. We relayed Nina from the Bronx to one of our vets in CT. Unfortunately, because of the complex break and the age of the injury, her leg had to be amputated. Three years later, Nina is still doing well despite living on the third floor in a walk up building.

“Skipper” was an inmate at a high kill municipal pound. Pet Assistance, Inc. happened to call there one day and the officer on duty told us about this cute, old stray that they hated to put down. To the rescue! Pet Assistance, Inc. had Skipper neutered, vaccinated, had dentistry performed and discovered he has a very serious heart murmur. He is about thirteen years old. Because his days may be numbered, this foster parent offered to keep him. Pet Assistance, Inc. will pay for all of his tests, medications, etc. for life.

"Tank" came to us at twenty months. He had spent most of his life in a crate. He had difficulty breathing, had entropion and already had scars on his cornea. Pet Assistance, Inc. got him neutered, had his eyes ‘fixed’ and had his elongated soft palette surgically corrected. He now lives happily with an elderly Bassett Hound (and a woman.)
